| call him a "cowboy", in a derogatory

| | the Osage Reservation Act of 1872, the
|
| manner, as if his being from
| |
| | federal
|
| Texas automatically brands him as being
| |
| | government began to treat Indian
|
| like the outlaw cowboys
| |
| | Territory more as a legally
|
| that died at the O.K. Corral on October
| |
| | defined "territory".In 1889, the federal
|
| 26 1881, in Tombstone,
| |
| | government finally established a federal
|
| Arizona Territory.Many other people from
| |
| | court for the management of the Indian
|
| around the world romanticize the American
| |
| | Territories. And then on
|
| Old West. They conjure images of cowboys,
| |
| | April 22nd 1889, the "Unassigned Lands"
|
| indians, guns, cattle,
| |
| | of central Oklahoma were
|
| buffalo, trains and the simple life when
| |
| | opened to white settlement. 50,000
|
| they imagine the world
| |
| | people, who were called
|
| of the Old West.Television, radio shows,
| |
| | "Boomers", settled the "Unassigned Lands"
|
| and movies have all contributed to
| |
| | that day.Then in May of 1990, Indian
|
| the romanticism of America's Old West.

| | Territory was divided into Oklahoma
|
| Television brought us
| |
| | Territory and Indian Territory. Over the
|
| "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza". Movies have
| |
| | next several years,
|
| come through time to
| |
| | various "land runs" permitted the various
|
| further emphasize people's romantic ideas
| |
| | sections of Oklahoma
|

| | trek west.In 1893, Colonel Miller founded
|
| Florida. While there, someone

| | his 101 Ranch in northcentral

| asked me where I was from. When I said

| | Oklahoma near present day Marland,
|
| Oklahoma, they had this
| |
| | Oklahoma, south and west of
|
| puzzled look come across their face.After
| |
| | Ponca City, Oklahoma.Colonel Miller
|
| a moment or two, this individual seemed to
| |
| | became good friends with Chief White
|

| | chief of the Ponca Nation. The Ponca
